Our Mission
When you Google ‘early childhood science activities’ or ‘preschool science ideas’, you don’t want a lecture! You want ideas that you can put immediately into action. In all of the content I create, I aspire to inspire, inform and equip. Here’s how:
Inspire: You know what? Life is hard! The work that educators do is so challenging. Sometimes we are just so buried in our to-do list that it is hard find any time to refresh and to feel inspired. I would love to help create moments of inspiration that can help you tune in to the magic that surrounds you and exploring science with young children can take you into their world, where everything is new and amazing!
Inform: The first professional development opportunity I created was basically me trying to dump everything I knew about a topic into other people’s brains. Obviously, this is not a method that is developmentally appropriate for any age, and it was definitely not engaging!
I listened to the feedback, and I learned my lesson and now I strive to provide just the right amount of information in an engaging fashion that respects your time and your position as an adult learner.
But here is the good news. You absolutely do not need to be an expert in any science topic in order to explore it with young children. In fact, it’s almost better when you don’t know about it! Our brains reward us for exploring and noticing new things, and when you don’t know about a topic, you will feel an authentic engagement and curiosity about the topic that will be contagious!
Equip: This is my commitment to you that comes out of my work in the classroom. I LOVE THEORY! And…theory does not get you through 8 hours with young children. In order to have the most successful day in class, it is important to have some ideas in your toolbox that you can pull out at any time. I like to call this the “Right Now Stuff”. Ideally, with very little expense or prep time, you will get some ideas here that you can do in class tomorrow!
Thanks for coming along with me on this ride. Let’s find magic!
